The Weeknd Age and Birthday 2026: How Old Is He Today?

The Weeknd age and birthday 2026 is one of the most searched celebrity bio queries in contemporary R&B and pop — and the verified answer is straightforward. As of mid-June 2026, The Weeknd is 36 years old. He was born on February 16, 1990, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and he turned 36 on February 16, 2026. He will turn 37 on February 16, 2027. That birth date — confirmed by authoritative biographical sources including Biography.com and reported consistently by People — is the anchor for every age calculation fans, journalists, and search engines rely on when the question spikes around his birthday, album cycles, and Super Bowl halftime retrospectives.

We are not covering net worth estimates or relationship timelines here — those belong to sibling USA Celebs pillars. What follows is the clean, sourced answer to one of the highest-volume celebrity age queries in modern music.

The Weeknd Age and Birthday 2026: How Old Is He?

Between February 17, 2026, and February 15, 2027, The Weeknd is 36. On February 16, 2027, he turns 37. The math is simple: subtract 1990 from 2026 to get 36, then subtract one year if today’s date has not yet reached February 16. In mid-June 2026 — after his February 2026 birthday — the correct answer to The Weeknd age and birthday 2026 queries is 36, because he already turned 36 on February 16, 2026.

Search interest in his age tends to spike twice a year — on February 16 itself and whenever he releases new music, headlines stadium tours, or appears at major events that prompt “how old was he when…” retrospectives. Because his birth year is 1990, quick mental math often lands on 36 in 2026, but journalists and fact-checkers always apply the birthday cutoff rule. Getting that detail wrong is one of the fastest ways to lose credibility on a bio page.

The Weeknd Birth Date and Verified Sources

Biography.com lists The Weeknd’s full birth name as Abel Makkonen Tesfaye and his birth date as February 16, 1990, noting his Toronto roots before he rose from anonymous YouTube uploads and mixtapes to global pop stardom. People magazine’s long-running coverage of the artist likewise treats that date as established fact across profiles, birthday posts, and event reporting. USA Celebs relies on those types of authoritative biographical outlets — not fan wikis or unsourced social posts — when publishing age reference pages.

His stage name is The Weeknd, a moniker he adopted early in his online music career. He is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer who grew up in Toronto’s Scarborough neighborhood before building a massive following through dark R&B mixtapes and chart-topping albums. None of that changes the birth-date arithmetic: 1990 → 36 in mid-2026 → 37 after February 16, 2027.

How to Calculate The Weeknd Age and Birthday 2026

There are three reliable methods to answer age questions on any given day:

• Year minus birth year, adjusted for birthday: If today’s month/day is on or after February 16, age = current year − 1990. If before February 16, subtract one.
• Online age calculators: Enter February 16, 1990, and the calculator returns exact years, months, and days — useful for “how old was he on [specific release date]” questions.
• Official biographical profiles: Biography.com and major outlets like People restate the birth date whenever they publish birthday or milestone pieces, which indirectly confirms the age band for that calendar year.

Example for June 25, 2026: 2026 − 1990 = 36, and June 25 is after February 16, 2026 — he turned 36 in February — so The Weeknd is 36. Example for February 10, 2026: he is still 35 because his birthday has not yet arrived in 2026. Example for February 17, 2027: he has already turned 37.

Zodiac Sign, Birthplace, and Bio Context

February 16 places The Weeknd under the Aquarius zodiac sign in Western astrology — a detail fans often pair with age searches even though astrology is not a verified biographical source. His birthplace is Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Biography.com documents his Ethiopian-Canadian upbringing in Scarborough and the anonymous mixtape era that launched his career while he was still in his early twenties.

Understanding birthplace and early mixtape training helps explain why age milestones in his career feel compressed: he was releasing House of Balloons and landing major-label deals before turning twenty-five — which makes “how old was he when…” questions especially common for early albums and breakout singles.

How Old Was The Weeknd at Major Career Milestones?

Fans rarely stop at today’s number. They want age-at-milestone context. Below are widely reported career beats with ages calculated from the February 16, 1990 birth date. Dates follow public record and major biographical summaries; exact release-day ages may vary by a few days depending on calendar math.

Mixtape Era and Early Breakthrough (Ages 21–24)

The Weeknd was 21 when House of Balloons arrived in 2011, introducing the dark R&B sound that would define his brand. By 2013, when his debut studio album Kiss Land dropped, he was 23 — a moment that keeps age-at-debut questions among the top Weeknd bio searches.

Beauty Behind the Madness and Mainstream Crossover (Ages 25–26)

Beauty Behind the Madness (2015) landed when he was 25 turning 26, pairing critical buzz with singles like “Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills” that pushed him into mainstream radio rotation. Grammy wins in 2016 at age 26 cemented the crossover from cult R&B figure to global pop headliner.

Starboy and After Hours Dominance (Ages 26–30)

Starboy (2016) arrived when he was 26, delivering a title track that dominated charts worldwide. After Hours (2020) landed when he was 30, pairing the viral “Blinding Lights” era with stadium-scale touring demand. Both projects keep age-at-release searches high whenever new listeners discover older tracks.

Dawn FM, Super Bowl, and Continued Stardom (Ages 32–36)

Dawn FM (2022) arrived when he was 32, showcasing a retro-futuristic pop direction while maintaining arena-level demand. His Super Bowl LVII halftime show in February 2023 came days after his 33rd birthday — one of the most-watched age-at-milestone moments in recent music history. In mid-2026, at age 36, he sits in the year after turning 36 on February 16, 2026 — a chapter Biography.com and People continue to document through music releases and touring without changing the core birth-date math.

Why The Weeknd Age and Birthday 2026 Keeps Trending

Celebrity age searches follow predictable patterns: birthday weeks, award shows, album drops, and viral moments that send casual readers to Google for a quick fact. The Weeknd sits at the intersection of all four. His mid-February birthday clusters attention in Q1, while summer stadium tours and surprise single drops keep mid-year interest high. Unlike artists with a single flash-in-the-pan moment, a catalog that spans anonymous mixtapes to multi-platinum albums, Grammy wins, and a Super Bowl halftime show means new listeners constantly discover older tracks and ask how old he was when each was recorded.

Accurate bio pages also matter for E-E-A-T — Google’s emphasis on experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trust. Stating he is 37 in June 2026 would be wrong; stating 36 with a clear February 16 cutoff demonstrates editorial care.
