On March 4, 2026, California Highway Patrol pulled over a BMW driving erratically at high speed in Ventura County. The driver was Britney Spears, 44.

Officers detected signs of impairment including alcohol. Spears was administered field sobriety tests, arrested at the scene, and booked at a Ventura County facility.

On April 30, 2026, the Ventura County DA filed one misdemeanor DUI charge against Spears. A wet reckless plea deal with no jail time has been offered.

After the arrest, Spears voluntarily checked into a rehabilitation facility. She was recently spotted leaving the facility over the weekend of May 3 to 4, 2026.
