Tito, Jermaine, La Toya and Randy Jackson are all reportedly involved in the production in some capacity. The film traces Michael from the Jackson 5 years through Thriller and his solo peak.

Industry sources point to legacy protection - Janet built her own pop empire under her first name alone - and a desire to avoid revisiting the family's most painful chapter on film. La Toya stressed Janet still supports the project.
